Woodland Shade Screening
Shade Gardening in Bergen County
Often after suburban development, unsightly woodland tracts adjoin two properties, leaving basically an unsightly and un-landscaped area between two manicured lawns, about a 30 ft wide area of left behind trees from development, unsightly roots, little soil and potential for gypsy moths to breed in. So what can you do?
For this Bergen County property owner, almost PERFECT Landscaping came in off the property line approximately 8 feet and; cleared the debris and unsightly growth. We then added some composted soil and with an augur interspaced a screening of arborvitae, which will within three to four years provide a magnificent green textured foliage screening between the properties.
Within the area in front of the screening a landscaped bed was prepared and planted with hostas, ferns, huechera perennials adding color and shape throughout the growing season and boxwoods for year round color, texture and as a focal drawing in so to speak.
Upon completion of planting, a covering of 3 to 4 inch natural cedar mulch was added creating a
“shady woodland screening” adjoining the finely manicured lawn area.
